  An excellent little cafe. It very comfortably seats fifty people. It has very nice decor and if you like horses, you will like the lucky shoe. The "shoe" refers to a horseshoe. Very good service and food was very good and very filling. Don't take a lot of money. You won;t need it. We had the perch and the entire bill was only $20,20.

  My husband and I were driving through Peotone to see the sculpture garden in University Park, Illinois. We stopped at one restaurant and I just didn't get the vibe I wanted so we continued until we found the Lucky Horseshoe Cafe. What a brilliant move this was!!! We were greeted by the nicest lady-(I wasn't sure at first-because I am southern and not really use to the Illinois personalities). She turned out to be the best, putting southerners to shame!! I am on a diet (which I hate---I am missing out on some amazing food...but oh well need to get healthy). She allowed me to taste the tuna salad because I didn't want anything too fattening-the tuna salad was GREAT! However, I opted for something a little less fattening, the salad, which I call a chef salad (ham, turkey, cheese, and lots of very fresh veggies). It came with a choice of soup-the soups we had to choose between were stuffed bell pepper and I am not sure what the other was called-it was similar to a chicken noodle-my husband got the chicken noodle with his meal and I chose the stuffed bell pepper. My choice was the BEST....OMG it was so good, I in fact, explained I was looking the recipe up online-the waitress offered to give me the recipe she used---can't wait to make it!!! I even ordered two cups "to go" for later!! My husband ordered the meatloaf, which came with a veggie and a potato. It came with two generous pieces of meatloaf smothered in brown gravy, green beans, and french fries that were cubed. All was excellent!!!! I had to taste everything...For the grand finale we were brought an amazing dessert-it was light and fluffy with an almond paste on the inside and icing with almonds on the top!!! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone-from a four star palate to a down home diner palate....It's that good!
